Partner Farmer Supplier Development Programme

The Fair Food Foundation initially developed the Partner Farmer model in response to the need for a coordinated approach to farmer development. Its focus is on strengthening Food Security and improving incomes by supporting both scaled emerging farmers and back-yard growers with finance, technical support and market linkages in rural and peri-urban settings.

The program incorporating the model supports growers through the critical phases from selection & recruitment, skills development and support through to graduation as a commercial grower. As a qualified graduate and Independent Agricultural Entrepreneur (IAE), farmers are offered an off-take agreement and shareholding in the Fair Food Co. group.

To date the Partner Farmer model has successfully reached over 1600 small and micro-growers and 140 large emerging farmers.
