Our Super Food & Fresh produce range
To date The FFCo has enjoyed much success in the production and processing of vegetables and, in particulate Edamame Beans.
The FFCo. currently researches and grows Edamame on a GlobalGAP audited farm and with outgrowers. Quality is of paramount importance to The Fair Food Co. brand, hence international best practice methods are adhered to in planting, harvesting and processing.
The FFCo. has a strong focus on Farmer / Supplier development which see our innovative “Partner Farmer” model supporting producers to produce quality, volume in reliable supply at competitive prices.
Edamame is a highly nutritious bright green vegetable-type and nonGMO soybean originally grown in the east for human consumption and now popular in the west as a tasty and protein rich ‘Superfood’ snack.
We currently grow Edamame at our Fair Food GlobalGAP certified Anchor farm and process our beans frozen and roasted through our HACCP accredited facility in Marianhill, KZN. The programme’s Partner Farmer model, currently supports over 90 emerging contract farmers who contribute to produce over 40 tons of Edamame beans per season.
Developing this new industry in South Africa requires significant and continuous investment in research & development and farmer support to enable us to bring quality product to the market each year. Currently you can find our frozen Edamame at selected national Woolworths retail stores. Also look out for our shelled edamame in WW Cafes edamame infused fresh salads from March.
